Accountability as a Service
A satirical critical-media project examining automated accountability and the performance of ethical responsibility through interactive AI systems.
About the Project
Accountability as a Service stages AI accountability as a technical service that can be delegated to automated systems. Through interactive synthetic-media characters, the project exaggerates the language of responsible AI, institutional accountability, and technical governance.
The work presents accountability as something that can itself be operationalized, packaged, and performed through technical systems. Its satirical premise pushes this logic toward absurdity in order to examine what happens when ethical responsibility is treated as a problem of automation.
Research Context
The project forms part of my practice-based research on the public performance of AI ethics. It examines how claims about responsibility, expertise, and ethical conduct are made credible through technical systems and institutional forms.
By constructing an exaggerated system that appears to automate accountability itself, the project uses critical prototyping and satire to reconstruct those claims as an interactive situation in which their assumptions and contradictions can be encountered directly.
